Chow Chiu Lun graduated from the HK Academy for Performing
Arts in 1992, and obtained his Advanced Diploma in Acting
with distinction. He then studied acting with the French dramatist
Philippe Gaulier in England for six months. After returning
to HK, Chow spent two years in the advertising and production
field and was a program host for the Cable TV Children's Channel
respectively.
He then worked as freelance playwright,
director and actor with Spring-time Stage, Exploration Theatre,
Prospects Theatre, Actor's Family and Joint School Music Society.
He is the founder of Home Theatre Home.
Chow joined the HKRep as a full time
actor in 1995, and played in over 40 productions, including
Miss To Sup-neung, Shall We Love, The
Imaginary Invalid, Forever and Ever, Peer
Gynt, Crossings, Oedipus the King,
Let Me Love Once, A Midsummer Night's Dream,
The Crucible , A Night In The Kitchen, A
Dream Like A Dream, The Importance Of Being Earnest
and Whose Life Is It Anyway? In 2005, he was the
playwright for (Rep 2 Series) Boxer.
Chow was appointed an ex officio coordinator
of Outreach and Education Program in 2002 and produced three
touring productions of different genre, Up Into The Sky,
Beneath The Boundary Tree and No Charcoaling. All were well received
by the schools, and the boundaries of the out-reaching activities
were successfully broadened.
His playwriting and directing credits
includes Post-modern Xiang Xin (Actor's Family), Fate of
the Earth and The Earth Is My Birthday Present (Exploration
Theatre's touring productions). He was a member of the creative
team of We are One Family, playwright of Up Into The Sky,
text writer of A Matter of 4x6, playwright and director
of First Night (Ching Fai Theatre), playwright and director
of Men Murders Nature Murders Men and None Of Your Family
Business (Home Theatre Home).
Chow was awarded Outstanding Actor
for his work in Enemy of the People(Academy production).
In 1996 he won the First Prize of a Short Plays Competition
with Teacher Mr. Jim and His Three Sex Partners. His production
of Men Murders Nature Murders Men was awarded Outstanding
Director as well as Outstanding Performance at the Drama Festival
2001.
