A stage actor who has garnered much acclaim within the theatre community and is well-loved by the audience, Lau Shau Ching received eight nominations for nine awards at the Hong Kong Drama Awards in the past nine years. He is an expert at playing unique roles, such as cross-dressing as Alma Winemiller in The Eccentricities of a Nightingale, the title role in Peter Pan and Cheng Hoi-Moon in Field of Dreams.

With his rich stage experience and sensibility to drama, Lau was often invited as part of the creative team in stage productions: he was the directorˇ¦s assistant in Dust and Dawn and Secret of Resurrection; he was assistant director in This Happy VALLEY is VERY Happy, Secret Love in Peach Blossom Land, Love You Forever, Richard III, and Boundless Movement, etc.

Lau was nominated Best Actor or Best Supporting Actor at the Hong Kong Drama Awards for The Eccentricities of a Nightingale, Shall We Go To Mars?, February 14, Secret Love in Peach Blossom Land, and SCROOGE - the Musical. He was awarded Best Supporting Actor (Comedy/Farce) for The Mannequin (production by Drama Gallery) in 2002, Best Supporting Actor (Tragedy/Drama) for Departure 00:00 in 2004, and Best Actor (Tragedy/Drama) for Field of Dreams in 2009.

Lau is a graduate majoring in acting of the School of Drama, Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.
