Poon Chan-Leung joined the HKRep as full time actor upon graduation
from the School of Drama, The Hong Kong Academy for Performing
Arts in 1991. He played in over 60 productions, including
I Have A Date With Spring, The Legend of the Mad Phoenix, Three
Sisters, De Ling and Empress Dowager Ci Xi, Forever and Ever,
The Crucible, A Matter of 4x6, A Dream Like a Dream, Let Me
Love Once, Rape Virus, Formula of a Thunderstorm, The Eccentricities
of a Nightingale, Haunted, Haunted Little Star, Departure 00:00,
Sweet & Sour Hong Kong, Peach Blossom Fan, The Importance
of Being Ernest, Rotate 270˘X, Whose Life Is It Anyway?
,Vassa Zheleznova and Proof. In 2005, he was
the director for (Rep 2 Series) Boxer.
Poon was a member of the creative, script-writing and directing
team as well as an actor in Crossings. He was also
the assistant director of Sweet & Sour Hong Kong.
Poon was nominated five times at the HK Federation Of Drama
Societiesˇ¦ Hong Kong Drama Awards, including the Best Supporting
Actor (Tragedy/Drama) for his work of High Horse in Black
Elk Speaks in 1994, Best Supporting Actor (Comedy/Farce)
for Thomas Diaforos in The Imaginary Invalid in 1999,
Best Actor (Tragedy/Drama) for Doctor Astrov in Uncle
Vanya, Best Supporting Actor (Tragedy/Drama) for Wang
Yin-to in Secret Of Resurrection in 2003 and Best
Supporting Actor (Comedy/Farce) for Benedict Hough in A
Small Family Business, . He was awarded Best Supporting
Actor for Black Elk Speaks and A Small Family
Business.
Poonˇ¦s acting credits also included the movies An Umbrella
Story, The Legend of the Mad Phoenix and
Love a la Zen. And for his work of Tong Tik-sang in The
Legend of the Mad Phoenix, he was nominated the Best
Supporting Actor at both Golden Horse Awards and Hong Kong
Film Awards in 1997.
