Qin Kefan is a member of the Chinese Dramatist Association, China TV Arts Association, and a National Second Class actress. She graduated from the Guangdong Drama School in 1963. In 1962 and 1973, she joined the Guangzhou Yang Cheng Theatre as a leading Putonghua actress, and the Guangdong Province Theatre as leading Cantonese actress. She is a renowned stage actress in Guangdong Province and played in many productions, all as leading characters. Her credits include acting and voice-dubbing in a number of drama series at the China Central Television and Guangdong Television, radio plays and novels readings at Guangdong People's Radio Station, and directed After Getting Rich and Easy Steps To Quit Smoking for Guangdong Theatre Comedy Troupe.

Qin moved to Los Angeles in 1987, she was a program host in news reporting and other programs and the deputy manager for Sino Radio Broadcasts Corporation and Chinese American Voice, she also offered Putonghua and Cantonese tuitions. She has also played Lao Ma in ˇ§Thunderstormˇ¨ and Melissa Gardner in Love Letters (Ling Lun Actorˇ¦s Workshop, Los Angeles).

Qin joined the HKRep as a full time actress in 1998 and played in Love a la Zen, Small Ripples in a Dead Pool, Let Me Love Once, De Ling and Empress Dowager Ci Xi, We Are One Family, Forever and Ever (rerun), Secret of Resurrection, A Dream Like a Dream, Love In a Fallen City, Formula of a Thunderstorm, The Eccentricities of a Nightingale, Haunted, Haunted Little Star, Departure 00:00, Sweet & Sour Hong Kong, A Small Family Business and The Gin Game.

Qin was awarded the Best Supporting Actress (Tragedy/Drama) at the 10th Hong Kong Drama Award in 2001 for her work of Chen Ju in The Naked Eyes and the Best Actress (Tragedy/Drama) at the 14th Hong Kong Drama Award in 2005 for her work of Fonsia in The Gin Game.
