Sun Limin is a veteran character actor with over three decades of stage experience. Before joining the HKREP in 1998, he was an actor at the Guangdong Provincial Theatre, having appeared in more than thirty stage productions and over a hundred films and television dramas. Sun was awarded second prize at the 1992 Guangdong International Drama Festival for his performance as He Fu in Mansion of Desire, and was awarded a second prize again at the 1995 Guangdong Province Theatre Festival for playing the fraudulent contractor Cheng Tianbao in Police Alarm.
HKREP audiences have been mesmerized by Sun¡¦s performances as the eunuch Li Lianying in De Ling and Empress Dowager Ci Xi, the lascivious director Yu Hai in Haunted Haunted Little Star and Liar Wang in Grand Opening of a Medical Clinic. Sun also starred in The Gin Game for both Cantonese and Mandarin versions, which has been revived five times in Hong Kong since 2004, and has toured in nine Chinese cities for sixty-five performances, including Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Wuhan, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Shantou. His successful portrayal of the old, stubborn, lonely and miserable Weller won him great acclaim. In 2010, Sun was also lauded for his portrayal of the title role in Cao Yu¡¦s Last Soliloquy in Hong Kong and Macau. Sun¡¦s recent performances include Richard III, Boundless Movement and The Heydays.
Sun is a National Second Class Actor and a member of the National Drama Federation of China.
