After finishing high school in Hong Kong, Kin Tung went to the United States and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting from the State University of New York at Fredonia. He received the "Theatre Most Promising Freshmen Award" in recognition of his passion and talent in theatrical productions. His main stage credits included The Cherry Orchard, Six Characters in Search of an Author, Our Town, The Good Woman of Setzuan, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Damn Yankees, A New Brain, and other black box and experimental theatre productions.
In his college career Kin Tung worked in various regional theatres around the United States ¡V the Forestburgh Playhouse (New York), the Galveston Island Musicals (Texas), and the Berkshire Theatre Festival (Massachusetts). Besides acting on stage, he served as the assistant musical director at the Galveston Island Musicals and a music director and piano accompanist for the children's musical at the Forestburgh Playhouse. Part of his regional credits included Miss Saigon, Victor/Victoria, Hello Dolly!, Annie Get Your Gun, George M!, Buddy, the Buddy Holly Story and The Pied Piper of Hamelin.
In 2005, Kin Tung made his Off-Broadway debut in Cambodia Agonistes with the Pan Asian Repertory Theatre, and appeared in Voices of the Wind in the New York International Fringe Festival. His Off-off Broadway credits included Harold Pinter's Mountain Language, Caged Visions (HB Playwrights Theatre), Sail Past Molokai (Shetler Theatre 54), The Ninja Project (Team Takahashi), and South Pacific (Heights Players). In 2006, he was selected a member of the HB Ensemble Company. His performances also encompassed TV commercials, independent films, and industrial voice-overs.
Kin Tung was also active in the broadcasting sector. He was first runner-up in the "3rd All-rounded Radio Host Contest" held by WZRC-AM1480, a subsidiary of Multicultural Radio Broadcasting Inc., the United States' largest Asian American radio network. There he became a part-time radio program host and news reporter. He also won second place in the "1st Hong Kong Ad!On DJ Contest" last year.
Kin Tung is thrilled to join the Hong Kong Repertory Theatre in April 2007.
