An accomplished actress of the new generation, Wong Wai Chi is popular among theatre audiences. Since joining the HKREP in 2001, she has appeared in over forty productions.
Wong¡¦s acting credits include The Importance of Being Earnest, February 14, De Ling and Empress Dowager Ci Xi, This Happy VALLEY is VERY Happy, Secret of Resurrection, Central Deconstructed and The Lark. She made a breakthrough in her acting career in 2008, performing the role of De Ling in the Mandarin version of HKREP¡¦s De Ling and Empress Dowager Ci Xi in the National Centre for Performing Arts in Beijing, which won her much critical acclaim.
Wong was nominated nine times for the Hong Kong Drama Awards and has received three such awards up to now. She was awarded Best Actress (Tragedy/Drama) for De Ling and Empress Dowager Ci Xi (Cantonese version) in 2007 and Best Supporting Actress (Tragedy/Drama) for Writing in Water in 2010. In 2011, she was again awarded Best Actress (Tragedy/Drama) for The Truth about Lying, a production for the Hong Kong Arts Festival. Wong also participated in the creation and performance of the HKREP¡¦s Black Box productions ¡§Call¡¨ Love and Good Things Going.
