Yau Ting Fai is a young actor who also excels as a playwright and director in recent years. Since joining the HKREP in 2001, he has devoted his energies in main stage, Black Box, outreach and educational productions and has won much critical acclaim. His starring roles including The Heydays, Reverie on An Empire, Scrooge ¡V the Musical, Beautiful Connection, Caligula, Central Deconstructed which was a 2008 co-production with Singapore¡¦s Theatre Practice, Dust and Dawn and February 14,
Even during his studying at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, Yau was nominated Best Actor (Tragedy/Drama) at the 10th Hong Kong Drama Awards for the Academy production of Flowers for Algernon.
Apart from acting, Yau has directed Those were the Days and The Labels at the HKREP¡¦s Black Box Theatre. Most recently, he created and directed A ¡§Lone¡¨, in addition to frequent duties as associate or assistant director. Yau was also the playwright of A Night in the Kitchen, the musical I Love Pineapple Bun, XXXFILE, and the Life Education Theatre piece No Charcoaling, which was adopted by the Education Bureau as a Chinese-language drama teaching resource intended for secondary schools.
During his secondary school years, Yau received a scholarship to study drama in England. He is a graduate majoring in acting of the School of Drama, Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.
