Presented by HKRep.Performed by Performance Workshop
The newest hit from Stan Lai's Crosstalk series
Xiang sheng (crosstalk) is the traditional Chinese stand-up comedy. It blossomed in the Qing Dynasty, in teahouses and on the street, and was marked by social and political critique in the form of jokes, storytelling and opera singing. Although this art form died, through the work of Stan Lai and the Performance Workshop it has been remolded into a vibrant art form. Traditionally, women never perform crosstalk, but this new play experiments with women in this unique form of comedy.
