The Abandoned Harbour
11.07.2015 - 26.07.2015

Vehement clashes of values in a time of merciless changes
Are we failing to keep up with the times? Or is the world becoming harder to understand?

After working as a seaman for most of his life, Lee has returned from the ocean, first to the pier, then to the land. His proudest life achievements are raising his children and owning his own flat, facing none other than the great Victoria Harbour! Nevertheless, these things are proving to be progressively less sufficient for him to live comfortably in his retirement.

Renowned playwright Lung Man-Hong uses the Victoria Harbour as a metaphor to depict a society in a time of changes, as diverging values clash and one’s attitude towards life is being eroded mercilessly.  Some things have seemed so serious before they happen, yet when they really come true, it is not so extraordinary after all. Is it we who have changed the world, or is it the world that has changed you and me?
