Open casting call for the original Cantonese musical "The Impossible Trial"

The West Kowloon Cultural District (WestK) and Hong Kong Repertory Theatre (HKRep) are hosting an open audition for new cast members for the original Cantonese musical The Impossible Trial. Want to be part of this flagship musical production?
 
The Impossible Trial – a musical, the first original Cantonese musical commissioned by WestK, co-presented and co-produced with HKRep, has staged 89 performances attended by more than 96,000 audience members since its preview in 2019, premiere in 2022, acclaimed rerun in 2023 and tour performances in 2025. The musical has received nearly 30 prestigious awards in Hong Kong and the Chinese Mainland, swiftly emerging as a cultural IP that represents Hong Kong and reaching new heights for an original Chinese musical.
 
The Impossible Trial – a musical features a top-notch creative team from Hong Kong, including composer and musical director Leon Ko, lyricist Chris Shum, playwright Cheung Fei Fan, director Fong Chun Kit, staging director and choreographer Ivanhoe Lam, and scenographer Wong Yat Kwan, as well as main cast members Lau Shau Ching, Jordan Cheng, Tunes Ting, Clinton Zhang and more. The 2025 tour also introduced 19 new members to the cast, including Leung Chung Hang, Ronny Yuen, Sheena Chan and Christopher Ying, igniting new creative sparks.
 
In preparation for the long-term plans for The Impossible Trial – a musical, we are now looking for new cast members! If you are interested, please read the requirements below and complete the online application form on or before the deadline.

Requirements:

• 18 years of age or above
• Able to perform fluently in Cantonese 
• Have 1) a degree or certificate in musical theatre or a performance-related subject or, 2) experience participating in a public performance of a musical production or, 3) relevant experience in the performing arts

Audition Dates:

22–28 February 2026 (including audition and recall)

Studios at Xiqu Centre, West Kowloon Cultural District (WestK), Hong Kong
