Yu Hon Ting
Actor
Yu Hon Ting joined HKRep in 2022. Among his recent productions are The Doctor, Moscow Express, Liu Rushi, my Dear, Scapin in Jiānghú, Chap. 2023, All Good Things, The Top Restaurant, Love à la Zen, Road to Damascus, Winter and A Winter Funeral.
 
He founded the Drama Gallery in 1998, for which he planned its seasonal offerings, writing and directing many of its productions. He also made guest appearances in productions of other companies. Yu is a veteran playwright, director, actor and programme curator. 
 
His plays have received much critical acclaim. Nitehawk, which he scripted and directed, won Best Script at the 22nd Hong Kong Drama Awards and Yu was nominated for Best Director (Tragedy/Drama). The Country Teacher and Hello in There were also nominated for Best Script at the Hong Kong Drama Awards, while Life is a Struggle…Fight It was nominated for Best Script at the Hong Kong Theatre Libre. Other notable works written by Yu include Haunted Theatre (inaugural production of Drama Gallery), Truly I Do (produced internationally, including Macao and New York), Deadline (The opening program of the 4th Beijing International Women’s Festival) and the Jack & Jackie series. 
 
Yu’s achievements as an actor have been widely recognised. Nominated seven times as Best Actor or Best Supporting Actor at the Hong Kong Drama Awards, he won Best Supporting Actor (Comedy/Farce) for God's Favourite and My Dream Home Gone at the 6th and 25th Hong Kong Drama Awards. In 2023, he won Best Supporting Actor for The Top Restaurant at the 7th China Theatre Awards. In 2022, he was awarded Best Actor at the 13th Hong Kong Theatre Libre for Winter and Best Supporting Actor (Comedy/Farce) for Try to be Funny at the 30th Hong Kong Drama Awards. He was awarded Performer of the Year at IATC(HK) Critics Awards 2022 for N:RM S/D. Recent appearances include Artocrite Theater’s N:RM S/D; BHT Theatre’s Try to be Funny; and Drama Gallery’s The Great Little Depression and Jack & Jackie 3
  
Yu is a graduate of the School of Drama, The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, majoring in directing.
